                   The following are the minutes of the Management Review Meeting held on 15-02-2006

of the SA 8000:2001 management system in Le Shark

1.     

Review of the last MOM (SMR)

SMR wanted a recruitement manual to be prepared by the HRD department so that company polices of not employing child labour, forced labour and discrimination practices could be understood by all recruiters during recruitment.

 

The head of the HRD department confirmed that the recruitment manual has been prepared and provided to all recruiters for their reference.  Copy of the same was submitted to the SMR.

2.     

Review of SA 8000 policy

The policy is found to be acceptable, as it is and no changes were considered necessary.

 

3.     

Review of the procedures and systems and appropriate changes as a result of changes in work practices or changes in relevant statutes

 

Policy, Procedures and systems were reviewed and the adequacy, suitability and continuing effectiveness of the same are found to be meeting the standard as well as company’s requirements.  

4.     

Review of the effectiveness of the systems and procedures

SMR informed that the Policy, system and procedures are implemented and their continuing effectiveness of the same is found to be meeting the standard and company’s requirements. 

 

Child labour:  HRD Asst incharge of avoiding recruitment of children confirmed that no child labour appointments have been made and all steps to avoid child labor is followed during recruitment. 

 

Forced labour: AO indicated that no form of forced labour was being practiced in Le Shark. SMR informed that no forced labour was found during the internal audits.

 

Health & safety: The Health & Safety Representative indicated that there were no major issues pertaining to health & safety. The AO indicated that the last Fire Drill Evacuation was conducted on 10-12-2005. The evacuation was carried out with out any untoward incident.

 

Freedom of Association & Collective bargaining: See section on committee meetings

Disciplinary action: AO discussed that no major disciplinary action was taken and all action initiated was recorded and available.

 

Discrimination: AO indicated that no case of discrimination was found in the facility.

 

Remuneration: AO and SMR indicated that there were no issues with remuneration. OT was being paid at a premium.

 

 

Working hours: AO pointed out that working hours has been increased from 9 hours including overtime to 10 hours

 

 

 

 

Management Systems:   SMR informed that as decided that the minutes of this MRM would be conveyed to all interested  parties in the company’s website and that the information of the same will be conveyed to  all those concerned through email or mail.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


SMR indicated that PF and ESI are deducted for  employees who have worked with us for 3 months to create stability and also for the employees not to lose their minimum savings.

 

AO indicated that it was due to the extreme pressure received from the workers side, that the OT hours was increased from one hour to two hours.  Negotiations are still on way with the workers to consider revising the OT hours from two hours to one hour.

Review of training and awareness programs.

AO indicated that training on various programs have been regularly conducted such as  fire fighting, women personal hygiene, and fjrst aid for self as per schedule.

 

6.     

Review of conformance of suppliers.

AO indicated that review has been made of suppliers, sub suppliers and sub contractors and those who have not returned the questionnaire have been requested to return them at the earliest.

 

7.     

Review of external communication received

AO confirmed that the web site has been created for external communications.

 

8.     

Review of non-conformance raised during internal audits

Fire license not available.

 

Maternity leave register not updated.

 

 

 

9.     

Review of committee meetings

Anti Sexual harassment committee meeting minutes: The AO indicated that the last meeting was held on 20-01--2006. The meeting was attended by the MD, other staff and by representatives.

 

Workers committee meeting: The last workers committee meeting was held on the 28-01-2006. The points raised in the meeting was also reviewed and pending points noted in the Management Review Register.
